How did you feel about it?

What is it?
As a young kid, I was an avid reader and would spend hours reading books. Most of my family members and my friends were aware of my passion and would gift me books on all occasions. The love for books translated into this long standing ambition to become a fiction writer some day.

Over time, my goals in life took a turn and more practical considerations took over. During my college years, I realised I had to secure a job first, due to which, this dream had to take a backseat.
What are you doing about it now
Although all through my college years, English remained a core subject, by then, I had decided to join mass communication. In my later years, I did start writing for newspapers and magazines, but those were mostly non-fiction writing.
And how do you feel about it
In hindsight, I do not regret my decision to join mass media as I had the opportunity to keep writing. I also write blogs these days, so at least, in part, I have been able to fulfil my wish.

This type of firm requires an intensive manpower to operate and heavy financial investments backed by various investors or partners to make it a successful running firm to get bigger projects, which need experience in the field and diverse projects.
What are you doing about it now?
I am currently engaged as an assistant professor at CME Pune, teaching subjects related to technical drawings and architecture and helping students to understand the design and the implementation of the same in the field.
And how do you feel about it?
I feel quite good and fulfilled teaching the army students about what I have learned in the field and doing international projects for an MNC, and providing them the tools to express their design through softwares and models.

What is it and why haven’t you achieved it?
Ever since I was a child, I have been drawn towards the world of cinema. As a kid I was attracted to the popular actors and fun songs of the Hindi film industry from India, but as I grew older, I discovered how vast the cinematic universe was. Being so absorbed by films, I felt that was my true calling, be it off or on the screen. Hence, I wanted to pursue a masters degree in Film Studies. However, life had other plans and despite clearing my exam and acing the interview round, I couldn’t pursue the course due to some personal reasons.
What are you doing about it now?
The good thing that came out of it, however, was that I had a great interaction with one of the interviewers on the admissions panel for that course, which led to us exchanging contact numbers. After years of regretting my decision to let go of my seat, I decided to try something else to pursue this dream – I contacted that professor and explained my situation to her. She told me some readings and published writings related to film that I could go through to fulfill my desire to be in touch with cinema. That’s what I do now.
And how do you feel about it
I read those and feel like I am doing something to be close to my dream. I still feel slightly disappointed that I did not get to experience the actual course and take exams and achieve a degree in the field, but I also try to remind myself that I am making the most of my situation now and trying to stay close to my passion. Maybe someday I would give that another shot and finally achieve that goal as well.
