LIVING IN A COUNTRY WHERE YOU HAVE TO SPEAK A FOREIGN LANGUAGE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS SOCIAL PROBLEMS, AS WELL AS PRACTICAL PROBLEMS.

Language is the fundamental requirement for being able to reside in a country other than your national country. It is a known fact that living in a place where individuals will have to communicate in a language other than their native language might cause serious social and practical problems.

Communication being the source of life is sometimes an underrated problem that people often face especially in a country where a foreign language is used on a daily basis. For instance, an Indian who moves to France for studies will find it extremely difficult to communicate with the locals unless there is some level of familiarity with the local language. The language issue persists on a daily basis which makes it extremely hard for a person to focus on other things. It can also lead to an individual feeling lonely, uncomfortable and not having people to share thoughts with.

Another social problem that is seen frequently is not been able to participate in the local festivals and events that makes it difficult for a person to feel part of the community. For example, a British national who travels to India during the Diwali season might feel excluded because of the language barrier and not being able to understand the culture and rituals. According to my perspective, the language barrier is a serious issue that the immigrants face because learning a new language is a time taking process. To overcome this issue, I feel individuals need to welcome the cultural differences with open arms and make the other person feel comfortable.

To reiterate, it can be said that I completely agree with the issues that come with living in a country where people communicate in a foreign language which is completely different from their own.
