Certain people opine that these days people are not concerned about recycling their home waste properly and sufficiently. They believe that this will only happen if the government would make it a compulsion by passing a law for recycling. I feel a law definitely adds the pressure which is important to understand the significance of recycling.
Recycling is a major step towards saving the environment that everyone needs to take nowadays. However, many people do not take it seriously or are just lazy to put in that extra effort to clean their environment in the times of global warming. For this if the government would make it a legal necessity to recycle in every household, then everyone would have to do it, ultimately making it a regular habit of people. For instance, introduction of fines for not recycling household waste was implemented in housings in Kerala, India, which helped to inculcate a good habit in the people of the society.
Likewise, when the Government of a nation makes it a law to recycle, the people who are disinterested in it would also have to do it in order to avoid penalties. This would make recycling of home waste a definite thing. Additionally, there are people who need a push to take such steps and the government’s initiative of this kind would provide that nudge in the right direction.
In conclusion, the Government making it a legal requirement for people to recycle their home waste is the right way of instilling recycling of household waste in people’s minds as a necessary practice in order to keep the environment clean.

Some individuals claim that waste collected from homes is not recycled efficiently. Additionally, they also believe that it is the responsibility of the government to increase recycling by imposing a legal requirement. In my opinion the government is not only responsible for ensuring efficient recycling of waste but the general public are also equally accountable.
Imposing legal laws can obviously contribute in efficient recycling of waste. Legal penalties and better government policies can encourage people to dispose waste efficiently. Laws can establish clear guidelines for waste segregation and since these laws might have legal penalties, this can serve as a punishment for those who disobey. However, implementation of such laws may be difficult as many regions lack suitable infrastructure for efficient recycling of different types of waste. Therefore, it is also necessary to ensure all the regions have accessibility to necessary facilities so they can contribute to the cause.
Additionally, relying on legal requirements may not solve an underlying issue as a major hindrance to efficient recycling is lack of awareness among the public. Many citizens are unaware of the necessity to segregate ways and significance of proper disposal. Besides imposing fines, governments should also run campaigns and awareness drives that highlights the benefits of proper waste disposal. For instance, many developed nations frequently organise awareness drives demonstrating the effectiveness of these measures. Often incentives in the form of credit points are offered to the general public. This has resulted in more people opting to recycle waste.
In conclusion, introducing legal requirements is an efficient measure to ensure proper waste disposal however, other measures can also be beneficial. A combination of consistent efforts by both government and the general public can result in better waste disposal practices.
