As a child I lived with my parents at a hill station. We lived in a wooden house with tin roofs. The house also had a small porch where we children played during the evening hours.
During the daytime I would mostly spend my time in the living room as there would be no guests at that time of the day. Since both my parents would be at work so the house used to be relatively quiet at daytime. It was a huge oval room with high ceilings and big windows covering one entire wall. It was a bright room with sunlight beaming through the windows overlooking the hills below.
Why did you like it there?
At times I would quietly sit with my book or paint and enjoy the afternoon sun and sometimes I would just sit by the open windows looking down below at the hills and the people on the road going about their daily business.
What kind of memories do you have of that room ?
I have wonderful memories of the time I spent by myself in our cheerful living room. I still recall the smell of the pines wafting through the windows and the soft mellow sunlight during the winter days lending the much needed warmth. The white lace curtains fluttering during the windy march days and in winter days sitting huddled by the fireplace. The many evenings spent with loved ones laughing and sharing anecdotes with good food and warm fire to keep us warm are part of all my happy childhood memories.

I still remember my school’s nursery class room, it was a small one, square shaped, entrance from my right side, the entire left wall had beautiful yellow coloured window panes, there was a whiteboard in the front and a small sideboard on its left hand side, where all the alphabets, along with images like apple, ball, cat et cetera, were there.
Why did you like it there?
The most striking aspect of the room was the selection of colors, it was a tomato red, and with yellow highlights. It was my favourite color and that is why I also liked the room. There were small tables and chairs, now because I have grown taller, the tables had an aesthetic appeal, they had cute colorful beach balls embossed on them, the table was smooth, and glossy. I liked every aspect of that room.
What kind of memories do you have of that room?
Whenever I recall those memories it gives me a soothing effect. The teacher, friends, and ambiance were all blissful. I miss those days.
