Question :
Describe a rule that you don’t like.
- Why the Rules?
- Which Rules has to be Abolished?
- Why don’t you like it?
Sample Answer :
World would be a disastrous place without all the rules and regulations. For example, traffic rules and law induces order in the society. Such rules are important for the citizens and should be followed strictly.
However, there are many rules that do not seem to have strong meaning or value. For instance, the teachers at my school made ridiculous rules, especially for girls. The girls were asked to braid their hair in a specific manner as per the strict rules. No other hairstyle was allowed. Moreover, an excessive amount of focus was always on how the girls were dressing and how were they keeping their hair. My class teacher once told us that only a girl who is not focused on studies would want to keep her hair open in school.
There were even derogatory comments if someone did not follow the rule. For instance, once my friend came to school with open hair because they were still wet. The teacher scolded her and accused her of indiscipline and lack of focus. It was a very traumatising moment for my friend. She felt so humiliated that she changed her school. Later she told me that her other school had similar ridiculous rules, made especially for girls which I feel is extremely problematic.
I feel that this is wrong on several levels. Girls are being conditioned to behave in a certain way and dress in a certain manner. It is inappropriate to try and control a girl on such baseless rules. This is going to make young women self conscious and under confident which is why such rules need to be removed.
School must focus on teaching about equality, right and feminism instead of focusing on weird rules and monitoring the lives of young girls. Such rules are sexist and inappropriate and deserve to be removed immediately. Strict action must be taken by the school authorities if a teacher demeans or insults a student on basis of such rules.

Introduction:
Every society has certain rules and regulations that are meant to be followed by its citizens to maintain a healthy and peaceful environment. However, not all rules are liked by everyone in the society. One such rule in Indian society that I do not appreciate is the preference given to sons over daughters.
What is it?
In India, there is an age-old belief that sons are more important than daughters and that sons should be preferred over daughters. This is a rule that is still followed in most parts of the country, even though it is not officially mentioned anywhere.
Why I don’t like it?
I do not like this rule because it is based on gender bias and does not take into consideration the capabilities and potential of both male and female children. It perpetuates the notion that women are not capable of achieving the same success as men, which is simply not true.
How others feel about the rule?
I know many people who do not agree with this rule and believe that both sons and daughters should be given equal opportunities and respect. However, there are still many people who believe that sons should be given preference over daughters.
Have I followed the rule?
I personally do not believe in this rule and have never followed it. I have always given equal opportunities and respect to both my sons and daughters and have taught them to do the same for others.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I believe that the rule of giving preference to sons over daughters is outdated and should be abolished. Everyone should be given equal opportunities and respect, regardless of gender.

Introduction
Rules are integral to the functioning of a society and educational institutions. In this cue card, I’d like to talk about a rule in college which I do not like.
What it is?
The rule which I do not like is the attendance rule in almost all the colleges in India. Students have to maintain a certain percentage of attendance in order to be eligible to appear for the end-term examinations.
Why you don’t like it?
I do not like this rule because I think it is too strict and should be flexible. The attendance rule is such that even if a student is absent for one or two classes due to some genuine reasons, he/she is not allowed to appear for the exam. This rule does not take into account the fact that a student can still study on his/her own and be prepared for the exam.
How others feel about the rule?
I think most of the students in college are not happy with this rule. They think it is too strict and puts them in a difficult situation if there is a genuine reason for their absence from the class. In addition, there are also some students who tend to take advantage of this rule by not attending classes and still appearing for the exams.
Have you followed the rule?
Yes, I have followed the rule. Even though I was not happy with the rule, I had to follow it and make sure that I have the required percentage of attendance in order to appear for the end-term examinations.
Conclusion
To conclude, I think the attendance rule in Indian colleges is too strict and should be more flexible. It should consider the fact that a student can still study and be prepared for the exam even if he/she is absent from the class.
