What did you teach?
I taught them 2D animation, and since I had learned how to do it recently I thought that teaching it to someone would be a good experience to polish my skills further.
Whom you taught it to?
I taught it to my brother. He loves to watch animated shows and wants to go into the industry. It is easy to learn the more complex software and techniques if you have clear basics.
Why did you teach it to this person?
The main reason I taught it to him was to brush up on my own basics, it had added effect of saving the family lakhs of rupees because I could teach him everything he needed to know about the primary softwares and the basics, it had costed a lot for me to attend the academy and learn everything, and the family would not be able to afford the fees for another so I taught him he needed to know to make a decent portfolio and get some jobs so that he can fund his own future education to some extent.

What you taught? & Whom you taught it to?
I frequently visit my maternal grandparents’ home in my summer breaks, though I don’t have siblings but there I have my cousins who are younger than me, they are in primary school. And then my duty becomes to assist them in their summer projects and also prepare them for their upcoming exams. And last summer when I went there, their first exam was Social Science, and it is my favorite subject.
Why you teach it to this person?
I told them to ask whatever doubts you have and they said without even hesitating ‘entire chapter.’ I adopted the teaching style of my teacher. Every time I used to teach them about one concept I used to explain it with real life examples, so that they can understand it in a better way. I taught them because they were in the early stages of learning in which a student requires a person who could clear their doubts instantly.
And explain how you felt about it?
I keep my summer breaks to complete my projects and then relax, enjoy and go out, but my last summer break was different, because I helped someone who needed me the most at that time. And that’s why I still remember those blissful movements.

What skill was it
During my school years I was taught how to make colourful decorative candles as a part of my curriculum in social useful potential work (SUPW). Our art and crafts teacher who was an expert in making exquisite items taught us this art form. Ms. Ahmed was an artist and designer herself and made everything that she wore by herself. With a lot of care and patience she taught us how to mix colour with paraffin, to make flowers and leaves out of it and use embellishments to decorate the candles.
How did you teach
In recent times, I passed this art form to my niece. Few years back when she had her summer holidays and had to come up with a handwork as part of her summer project. That was the time when I taught her candle- making. At first, she was slightly apprehensive about working with hot wax but later she appeared excited. In a very short time she managed to learn the intricacies of making decorative candles.
Do you think it will be useful to them in the long run
My niece has now taken it up as a serious hobby and whenever she gets free time she makes these candles. She has gifted these pieces to many of her friends and even to me. She is getting better with every piece and also participated in a Christmas fair. To our surprise all her pieces were sold.
I hope she continues to pursue this hobby and in the long run it should prove to be a lucrative alternative.
