What was the task ?

I have always found it challenging to complete tasks that requires patience and sitting at one place for long hours. When I was in college we had to make a quilted embroidered bedspread as part of our home science project. Although it was supposed to include four team members but it required a considerable effort from each member as it had to be completed by a stipulated time period.

What difficulties did you encounter?

As the task had to be completed in a fifteen days time period, each member had to devote three hours each day in order to complete it on time. Moreover, as the design was intricate, it required both patience and precision. In the initial few days I was finding it extremely difficult to concentrate beyond an hour and I started to lag behind the others. I tried hard but to keep at it for a prolonged period was proving to be a challenge.

However, I soon found a solution to it. My cousin had advised me to put on some music while working and to take a break of few minutes every hour. I did just that and somehow my  concentration level increased and soon I could keep at it for hours together. I managed to make up for lost time and as the deadline came closer I was at the same pace as others. Once we finished we were amazed by the beautiful embroidered piece we created and showcased it to the whole department.

What was the task ?

Challenges are a part and parcel of life. To overcome them, one has to put in their best efforts and hard work.

The only task I encountered which was difficult was learning a different language and coping up with it. First it was very hard to actually understand and then to speak.

What difficulties did you encounter?

I like to learn new languages as it helps me when I am traveling. It is easier to communicate with others in their language. So, a few years back when I went to study in the Philippines, I learned some words, even their slang is similar in my home country. Even the words are quite similar so I can understand them easily but when it comes to writing or reading I struggle a lot. Even sometimes the words are the same with my language but their meaning is different.

Were you successful ?

Since I was a student there it was easier for me to enroll in language classes and make new friends with Filipinos which helped me to understand and I did a lot of online practice. As I knew, during my clerkship this will definitely help me when I will be communicating with people over there. And finally I somehow did my best to understand their language .
