Sample Answer :

We have to make difficult decisions many times in our lives. I have faced such situations as well. It has mostly happened with career related decisions. I opted for science in school because my father wanted me to pursue engineering. As I was a good student who scored well in class, my teachers felt that science is the only fitting stream for me.
While I was good at math and physics, I personally wanted to pursue literature. Somehow I managed my time in school and passed class 12th with good marks and also cleared an engineering entrance. My family was very proud of me and everyone was happy. I did not want to ruin their happiness and therefore I decided to become an engineer. But I never felt happy during that time.
I visited my college and was asked to choose an engineering discipline for myself. My father suggested computer science and I was ready to accept all his suggestions but my visit to the college changed my mind. I saw a theatrical performance in the college premises which was done by literature students. Then, I talked to them and they gave me a brochure for the literature program. It looked fascinating. It was a very difficult decision for me to tell my parents about my interest but I decided to do it.
I went home and talked to my parents about it. It was very unexpected for them. My father did not talk to me for two days but he finally agreed. I took admission in the literature program and began my college life. I received first rank in my college and also received several prizes and medals for my achievements. It was a very tough decision for me but I do not regret it at all. I am so happy that my parents supported my decision despite everything.
I know life is going to be full of many such difficult decisions but I am prepared to face all of them. Here, I have learned that it is important to be courageous and do what feels right. It is also important to work hard after taking a decision for yourself so that nobody can question you or your decision. That one decision taught me a lot about life and made me better person.
