Where and when you saw it:

I saw the advertisement while watching television in my living room. It was during the prime time evening slot, around 8 PM, when most people tend to tune in to their favorite shows or news programs.

What type of advertisement was for:

The advertisement was for a new brand of instant noodles that claimed to be healthy and nutritious. It highlighted how their noodles were made with whole grain ingredients and had no artificial flavors or preservatives.

What you could see in the advertisement:

The advertisement featured vibrant visuals of happy families sitting together for a meal. The instant noodles were shown being prepared in various creative ways with colorful vegetables and lean protein sources. The voiceover emphasized the convenience of the product for busy individuals and stressed its health benefits.

And explain why you didn’t like the advertisement:

I didn’t like this advertisement primarily because it felt misleading. While the visuals and claims made it seem like a wholesome and nutritious meal option, I knew from my own knowledge that instant noodles, even if made with whole grain ingredients, are not the healthiest choice. The advertisement failed to mention the high sodium content and the fact that consuming instant noodles regularly could have negative impacts on one’s health. It seemed like an attempt to capitalize on the health-conscious trend without providing the complete picture. As a consumer, I value transparency and honesty in advertising, and this advertisement fell short in that aspect.

Where and when you saw it:

I came across this advertisement in a popular lifestyle magazine that I was reading while waiting at a dentist’s clinic.

What type of advertisement was for:

The advertisement was for a skincare product – a day cream that claimed to have revolutionary age-reversing properties. It targeted individuals who were concerned about signs of aging and wanted to maintain youthful skin.

What you could see in the advertisement:

The advertisement featured a well-known Bollywood actress who appeared to have incredibly smooth and flawless skin. The “before” and “after” pictures showed a dramatic difference, with the “after” picture making her look years younger. The text boasted about the cream’s scientifically advanced formula and how it could reduce wrinkles, dark spots, and fine lines within a remarkably short time.

And explain why you didn’t like the advertisement:

I found this advertisement quite unconvincing and disliked it for its unrealistic claims. While the actress looked undoubtedly stunning, I was skeptical about the authenticity of the transformation. The exaggerated promises of turning back the clock on aging within such a short span seemed too good to be true. Moreover, the advertisement didn’t provide any concrete scientific evidence to support its claims. As someone who values honesty in marketing, I was put off by the attempt to exploit people’s insecurities about aging and beauty by presenting an ideal that might not be achievable with just a cream. It’s important for advertisements to be transparent and responsible in their messaging.

Where and when you saw it:

I encountered this advertisement while browsing social media on my smartphone during a lunch break.

What type of advertisement was for:

The advertisement was for a financial investment scheme offered by a private company. It claimed to provide guaranteed high returns on investments and portrayed itself as a surefire way to secure one’s financial future.

What you could see in the advertisement:

The advertisement showcased testimonials from people who claimed to have multiplied their wealth within a remarkably short period through this investment scheme. The visuals included luxurious vacations, fancy cars, and dream homes – all implying that these outcomes were achievable by investing in their scheme.

And explain why you didn’t like the advertisement:

I was particularly skeptical about this advertisement due to its unrealistic promises and potential to mislead people. High returns with guaranteed success in investments are rare and often come with a significant degree of risk. The advertisement failed to provide any information about the potential risks involved or the fine print that might affect the returns. It exploited people’s desires for financial stability and prosperity by offering a seemingly effortless solution. As an informed consumer, I understand that genuine investments require thorough research and a clear understanding of the risks involved. I disliked this advertisement because it appeared to prey on people’s vulnerability and lacked the necessary transparency about the potential downsides.

What type of advertisement was it?

Most of the advertisements created for the print media or audio-visual or social media is created after a lot of thought. The idea behind creating an advertisement is to highlight the benefits or the uniqueness of the product. The bulk of advertisements come with a storyline to attract customers to the product. One such product was a fairness cream which showcased a girl with dusky complexion having less confidence than the one who has fair complexion. Once she starts applying it, her complexion changes within a short span of time and she becomes more confident.

When and where did you see it?

I saw this advertisement at first as a teen and did not think too much of it. However, as I advanced in age it became clear to me that this is a derogatory comment on a particular group of women who have a dusky or dark complexion.

Why didn’t you like it?

Indians are not primarily as fair as the westerners and have mostly a wheatish, dark or dusky complexion and it is highly illogical to suggest that we should strive to acquire a fair complexion. Also every woman should be celebrated the way she is. The advertisement showed a particular group of women in poor light which is objectionable. Such advertisements should be banned across platforms as it creates unnecessary divide in the society.

I do not like all the advertisements,  sometimes the content included in these and because these give me a disruption between any of the shows or movies I watch on mobile phone or television.

What type of advertisement was it?

Recently, I watched an advertisement related to an electric scooter. I did not hate the scooter because it was so cool to see. It had good light and was advantageous in itself. The one thing I did not like about this advertisement is the way they presented. There was a young boy who was driving this vehicle and having a race with the truck. They were showing that the scooter can go up to 40Km/h if someone is comparing its speed with the truck.

When and where did you see it?

I saw this advertisement on my mobile phone last week when I was at home and watching the episode on you tube.

Why didn’t you like it?

This advertisement did not give me any excitement because it is totally dangerous for anyone to race with any vehicle on the road, especially  trucks. It can encourage the youth to do it. And anyone can get hurt. I think this type of advertisement content should not be presented to the public because not everyone can understand the risks behind such activities.
