Describe a type of technology (not a phone) you want to own in the future | IELTS Speaking Test 7th January 2026 | Part 2

My typical day starts with a glass of water followed by the usual freshening up routines. Then I head to my gym and workout for about two hours. After that I take a quick shower and head to college, where I spend most of my day and return home by 8 pm at night. Then it is all about having dinner with my family and spending some time with them before heading to sleep.

Yes. I go to the gym regularly and ensure I cover a certain number of steps everyday.

My family and I enjoy visiting historical sites often so we usually visit any of the numerous heritage sites in Delhi. Otherwise my weekends are mostly for meeting my friends or going shopping.

No, I don’t enjoy it. I feel that gifts can add a lot of obligatory pressure on a person. If I gift something to someone, they might feel obligated to gift something to me as well. And vice-versa is applicable too. So, I think it’s best to not indulge in this as a practice.

I don’t buy gifts frequently. I just buy them when I know the other person would be quite upset or if it is a major event or an important occasion, then I surely buy a present for the person.

I don’t think I have ever bought anything expensive for anyone because I think it is more about sentimental value than materialistic value.

Most people buy apparels as presents. Though things like books, crockery, and perfumes are also common gifting categories in India.

No, I don’t if I visit a friend but if I’m with my family and we’re visiting a family friend or a relative at their home after a long time then we take fruit baskets as presents.

Back when I was in the fourth grade, I was nine at the time, my aunt had gifted me a huge multi-storey doll house. It was the best toy I had in my entire childhood. Till date I think that was the best gift anyone ever presented to me.

No. I have not received many gifts since I entered my teens. All the presents I have received have been quite special and have remained valuable for me.

Describe a type of technology (not a phone) you want to own in the future

Modal Answer

You Should Say:

What the technology is

When you would like to own it

What you would use it for

And explain why you want to own this technology

I don’t have an interest in a lot of technological devices but there is one that caught my attention a few years ago and it has been on my bucket list since then. I currently have a smart TV which has the feature of 3D viewing of 3D films but that requires a pair of chargeable 3D glasses. I want to purchase those glasses because some of my favorite films are 3D and being able to watch those films in the original format would be a delight. I dream of being able to host movie nights for my friends and recreate the cinema experience of those films at home. Especially superhero films by Marvel which have some great visual effects in 3D. I have saved some money so far and I’m hoping that in the next month I’ll be able to make this purchase.

I think technology will make life easier because even today, life has become quite easy and most things can be done quickly. The best example is the smartphones providing instant communication mediums for us.

Yes, I think smart homes will start becoming the norm in maybe 20 years from now. They’d have advantages of customizations and ease. Certain areas of the house will be customizable based on the mood of the inhabitants. There would be ease in basic chores like waste disposals and even cleanliness maybe.

No. Technology can never replace humans. It can make our work efficient. Teachers, especially, are essential because they interact with their students and through their sentimental and mental understanding of them, they are able to teach them better. No technology will be able to replace that.

It’s probably because they aren’t able to use the technology properly and efficiently. It can cause people to feel frustrated so to manage that type of stress and maybe even become self-reliant they decide to lessen their use of technology.
