IELTS Speaking Test 18th December 2025 | Describe an exciting activity you have tried for the first time

I have just completed my high school education this year and now I’m just hoping to clear this exam and get going to Australia to pursue university education.

What is it famous for? (History, food, landmarks, industry)

Delhi is most famous for the delicious food it has to offer and the rich historical heritage it holds. There are many historical monuments here as well as a plethora of art galleries and museums.

I love the food, honestly. No matter what mood I am in, I can have amazing food anytime anywhere.

Delhi is quite well-connected with the widespread network of metro rails and there are multiple bus routes as well. Even cab hailing services run almost in all areas. So, it is very easy to travel within Delhi.

No, I would not want to live elsewhere in India because I have everything I like and want in Delhi as compared to other cities in this country.

I live in an apartment with my parents and we also have a pet dog.

I have lived at the same place since the day I was born. So, it has been 18 years.

I like my home a lot actually but I wish we had a bit more space in our balconies to have a home garden for microgreens.

You Should Say:

What it is

When/where you did it

Why you thought it was exciting

And explain how you felt about it

I recently went to Rishikesh with my family. It’s a popular tourist spot in India because of its religious significance but also river rafting. While my entire family, including distant relatives, decided to travel to this city for religious worship, I thought we all should try river rafting as well since I had heard a lot about it and watched many social media content creators post videos of their experiences and it all seemed quite exciting and intriguing to me. So I quietly planned how I could convince my parents without disrupting any of their plans. However, I was left astonished soon because my father instantly agreed and we were on our way to try the sport. It was an exhilarating experience for all of us as we had never experienced anything as exciting as this. Now we have decided to return every year and make it a family tradition.

I think it is majorly because people fear the unknown. New things can disrupt a lot of routine or expose one to various kinds of risks. So, to safeguard themselves, most people resist trying new things.

As I mentioned, I think fear is a major deterrent for people from trying new things in life, be it big or small.

It is surely the adrenaline rush that one gets when they engage in anything exciting that pushes people to try dangerous activities. Plus, I also feel that dangerous feats bring a different sense of pride and achievement in life when completed so that is also a big factor.

In most cases, yes. I think that’s probably because children aren’t resistant in the way adults are because they are always curious to figure things out. Hence, their adaptability is also more because of the mental flexibility they have for experiences.

People can become aware of their reflexes and quick-thinking power while being involved in dangerous activities. Such activities can also help people have better experiences and explore their own limits, and strengths and weaknesses.
