What was it?
An activity I enjoyed when I was young would have to be to play pretend with my toys as characters in an epic tale of heroism and adventure, a world where transformers, pokemon, beyblade and ben 10 somehow exist in the same plane of existence.

Where did you do it?

It was a bit corny so not a lot of kids wanted to play with me so i mostly played alone at my home, but i did have one friend who was like minded in the desire to make this epic tale, and we would play on our commute to and from school, thinking back, it was probably very annoying for everyone around us.

Why did you do it?

The feeling of saving the entire world after a fierce siege at the enemy castle provided a bliss beyond anything I have felt, and I would trade in anything to go back to that time of my life.

This particular art of mine gave me lot of joy and confidence that I could achieve anything in my life. Those days of my life are full of memories which I can sheridan through out my life.

When was it & Where did you do it? & What do you do?

Since my childhood I have been fond of drawing, as I grew up I expanded my skill and learned sketching and painting. I remember in my summer break I used to sit with my sketchbook in my apartment’s balcony, and draw whatever came in front of my eyes, whether it was a squirrel, a crow, and by the time I came to class 5, I have drawn the map of the entire colony in which I used to live, from the main playground, community hall, a big banyan tree, and aloe vera boundary wall, which was the most difficult task for drawing for me.

My mother is the craftsperson behind me, when I was just in 1st grade my teacher used to give me homework for drawing and my mother used to just hold my hands and move it like she was just teaching me how to walk as a child again. She taught me how to draw and how to reflect not your emotion and feelings from your drawing but of the subject’s emotions.

How did you feel about it?

It was a relaxing past-time activity. I learned a skill which I have refined in various other art forms, now I do portrait paintings, abstract paintings, and landscape paintings and et cetera.

What was the activity

As a child I loved painting and often made cards to gift to my friends and extended family. In my primary classes I mostly used crayons and colour pencils but in middle school I had a wonderful teacher who taught us how to use water colour and mix it to get the exact shade.

When did you do the activity

During my early years we had drawing classes on alternate days. I enjoyed these classes immensely and often during weekends and holidays I would sit down and keep filling the colour books. In middle school we had weekly just two painting classes so I mostly painted in my free time on weekends or during the long winter vacations when we were mostly confined to home as it would be too cold to go out. I would make vibrant Christmas and New Year cards using colours and sometimes embellishments as well and gift to all my loved ones.

In what way did you find it enjoyable

My passion for painting remains till date and I keep dabbling at it. I would credit my teacher for inculcating this love for art and colours in us. Ms. Ahmed taught us the little nuances of how to make an art piece come alive. For instance, what is the right way to paint the evening sky, how to mix shades to get the right hue or how to create a 3-D effect in the  elements we paint. I still prefer to gift my friends hand-painted cards and do so on every important occasion.
