What is the law?

With a burgeoning population and cities growing in size, cleanliness and sanitation is a challenge that governments have to deal with on a daily basis. Many of the cities and large metropolises have garbage dumped at street corners and most citizens are callous about how they dispose of garbage. To counter this, cleanliness inspectors should be recruited and citizens found spitting or dumping waste at inappropriate sites should be fined.

Why do you think it’s important ?

 A huge number of the population flock to the cities from smaller cities and rural areas. The prominent cities are increasingly becoming crowded and harmful diseases are on the rise. These diseases are spreading due to improper disposal of waste. Most people are aware that dry and wet waste should be segregated but do not adhere to this. Also citizens often ignore the benefits of keeping a city clean. Most urban cities which are clean and maintain strict sanitation have tourists all the year round thus hugely contributing to the economy. These cities attract both business and people traveling for pleasure.

How will it benefit ?

To ensure a healthy population, governments need to implement a strict regimen. Colonies, parks and city circles need to be be kept spick and span. This gives a feeling of general well-being and helps to keep diseases at bay. A strict policy will ensure that rules are in place and are adhered to. Hence, if fines are introduced and inspectors recruited to keep a close eye people will be wary and dispose of waste properly.
